We tracked Amazon prices to see if the deals were real.
Visualping tracked Amazon US product pages from May 22 - July 26, 2026 (updated July 26, 2026), then compared Prime Day prices with previously observed lows in the dataset.
were priced higher than a previously observed low in Visualping's tracking window.
Prime Day moved prices across more than one thousand tracked products, but the headline discount did not always mean a fresh low. The clearest risk sat in Movies & TV, Industrial & Scientific, and Garden & Outdoor.
The main result: nearly half were above a previous low.
The stricter "not genuine deal" test asks whether Prime Day was higher than a lower price Visualping had already observed. By that measure, 45.4% missed the mark.
Non-genuine deal rates varied sharply by product category.
We compared each Prime Day price with the lowest price Visualping observed before June 23. Higher rates mean a larger share of products were above a prior low.

How we analyzed this.
This is a Visualping dataset, not Amazon's full historical pricing record.
We analyzed approximately 2,500 Amazon US products tracked using Visualping's AI page monitoring tool between May 22 - July 26, 2026 (updated July 26, 2026).
For this analysis, we focused on approximately 1,292 products that experienced at least one recorded price change during Prime Day on June 23, 2026.
For each product, we compared its Prime Day price against historical price records available in the dataset before June 23. Products were classified into three groups:
- New all-time low
- Prime Day price was lower than any previously observed price in the dataset.
- Matches previous low
- Prime Day price matched the lowest previously observed price.
- Not lowest price
- Prime Day price was higher than a previously observed low price.
Products with no recorded price history before June 23 could not be evaluated against historical prices and were excluded from this comparison.
