*Visualping monitors pages behind login forms using two different methods*

Most website monitoring tools stop at the login page. They can track public pages, but the moment content sits behind a username and password, standard crawlers cannot reach it.

That is a problem because some of the most important pages to monitor are gated. Internal dashboards, supplier portals, SaaS platforms like Jira or Salesforce, government RFP systems, regulatory filing portals, and competitor pages that require registration all sit behind login forms.

Visualping solves this. It offers two methods to monitor password-protected websites for changes, each suited to different situations. This guide walks through both, step by step.

## Why Monitor Password-Protected Pages?

Before the how-to, consider why this matters. Pages behind login forms contain information that changes frequently and matters a lot:

- **SaaS dashboards** (Jira, Asana, Salesforce): Track issue status changes, pipeline updates, or configuration changes without logging in manually every day
- **Supplier and vendor portals**: Catch [pricing changes](https://visualping.io/blog/competitive-pricing-analysis/), policy updates, or contract modifications the moment they publish
- **Government RFP sites**: Get alerted when new [requests for proposals](https://visualping.io/blog/how-to-monitor-requests-for-proposals/) appear so you can respond before deadlines
- **Regulatory filing portals**: Monitor [compliance updates](https://visualping.io/blog/regulatory-compliance-monitoring/) that agencies post behind authenticated portals
- **Competitor member areas**: Track changes to pricing tiers, feature pages, or documentation that require registration as part of your [competitive intelligence](https://visualping.io/blog/what-is-competitive-intelligence/) workflow

The common thread: these are pages where missing a change has real consequences, and checking manually does not scale.

## Two Methods to Monitor Password-Protected Websites

Visualping offers two approaches. Here is when to use each:

| Method | Best for | Difficulty | Works with 2FA? |
|--------|----------|-----------|-----------------|
| Chrome extension | Logins of any kind, including 2FA and SSO (Device mode checks run in your browser) | Easy | Yes (Device mode) |
| Pre-actions (element selector) | Standard username/password forms | Medium | No |

![Two monitoring paths from locked webpage to dashboard: browser extension and element selector](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/three_methods_extension_selector_cookies_monitor_password_protected_websites_168c852899.webp)
*Choose the right method based on your authentication setup*

## Method 1: Visualping Chrome Extension (Easiest)

The [Visualping Chrome extension](https://visualping.io/chrome-extension/) is the simplest way to monitor pages behind a login. In Device mode it checks the page right in your own browser, using the session you are already signed in to, so if you can see the page in Chrome, Visualping can monitor it.

### Steps

1. Install the [Visualping Chrome extension](https://visualping.io/chrome-extension/) from the Chrome Web Store
2. Navigate to the password-protected page in your browser and log in normally
3. Once you see the page you want to monitor, click the Visualping extension icon
4. Choose your monitoring mode:
   - **Device mode**: Uses your local browser session. Works with any authentication method, including two-factor authentication and single sign-on. The check runs on your machine.
   - **Server mode**: Sends the page's cookies and local storage to Visualping once, when you create the monitor, so checks run in your logged-in session from Visualping's servers around the clock. Sessions are not re-synced: if the site expires yours, recreate the monitor or use pre-actions (Method 2), which are covered step by step in our [guide to Actions before each check](https://visualping.io/blog/how-to-use-pre-action-tools-to-monitor-pages/).

In Device mode, checks run in your own browser, inside the session you are already signed in to. Complex authentication flows (2FA, SSO, OAuth) work because you completed the login yourself, with no cookie extraction and no credentials stored with Visualping.

5. Select the area of the page to monitor (or monitor the full page)
6. Set your check frequency and notification email
7. Click **Start Monitoring**

### When to use this method

Use the Chrome extension when:
- The site uses complex authentication (2FA, SSO, OAuth): Device mode handles these because the check runs in your signed-in browser
- You want the fastest setup with no configuration
- You are already logged into the site in Chrome

### Limitations

Device mode checks only run when your computer is on and Chrome is open. For 24/7 server-side monitoring, use Server mode (your captured session, until it expires) or pre-actions (Method 2), which log in fresh on every check.

## Method 2: Pre-Actions with Element Selector

Pre-actions tell Visualping's server-side crawler to perform login steps before taking a screenshot. You define a sequence of type and click actions that replicate what you do manually: type your username, type your password, click the login button, wait for the page to load.

### Steps

**Step 1:** Go to [visualping.io](https://visualping.io/) and paste the URL of the login page into the search bar. Click **GO**.

**Step 2:** The page preview loads. Scroll down to the **Advanced** section and expand **Perform actions**.

**Step 3:** Set up the username action. Under the first action:
- Change the dropdown from **Click** to **Type**
- In the "Words to type" field, enter your username or email
- Click the arrow icon (element selector) and click on the username field in the page preview above

If the element selector does not highlight the correct field, you can manually enter the field's ID or XPath. To find it, right-click the username field in any browser, choose **Inspect**, and look for the `id` attribute on the `<input>` element.

Enter it in the "Field name (or XPath)" box. Alternatively, use the XPath format: `//input[@id="email"]`.

**Step 4:** Click **+ Add action** for the password. Again select **Type**, enter your password in "Words to type", and use the element selector to click the password field in the preview. Or enter the field's ID or XPath manually.

**Step 5:** Click **+ Add action** for the login button. Keep the action set to **Click**. Use the element selector to click the login/submit button in the preview. Or type the button text ("Log In", "Submit", "Sign In") in the "Button name (or XPath)" field.

**Step 6:** Click **+ Add action** and select **Wait**. Set it to 2-3 seconds. This gives the page behind the login form time to load before Visualping takes the screenshot.

**Step 7:** Click **GO** to test. If the preview shows the authenticated page, the pre-actions are working.

**Step 8:** Set your check frequency, select the area of the page to monitor, enter your notification email, and click **Start Monitoring**.

```cta
```

### Finding XPath or Element IDs

If the element selector does not work (some pages use custom UI components that are hard to click), you can find the element's XPath manually:

**In Chrome (or any Chromium browser):**
1. Right-click the form field and select **Inspect** (see [Chrome DevTools DOM docs](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/dom/) for a full walkthrough)
2. In the Elements panel, the `<input>` element is highlighted
3. Right-click the highlighted element, go to **Copy**, then **Copy XPath**
4. Paste the XPath into Visualping's "Field name (or XPath)" box

**In Firefox:**
1. Right-click the form field and select **Inspect Element**
2. In the Inspector panel, right-click the highlighted element
3. Go to **Copy**, then **XPath**

The XPath typically looks like `//input[@id="username"]` or `//button[@type="submit"]`.

### When to use this method

Use pre-actions when:
- The site has a standard username/password login form
- You need 24/7 server-side monitoring (not dependent on your computer being on)
- The site does not require two-factor authentication

### Limitations

Pre-actions do not work with two-factor authentication, CAPTCHA-protected logins, or JavaScript-heavy single-page app login flows that the crawler cannot render. For those situations, use the Chrome extension in Device mode (Method 1): the check runs in your own browser, in the session you are already signed in to, no matter how you logged in.

## Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you run into problems when you monitor password-protected websites, start here.

### The preview shows the login page instead of the authenticated content

- **Pre-actions:** Double-check that the element selectors or XPaths point to the correct fields. Test by clicking **GO** after each action to see where the process breaks.
- **Chrome extension (Device mode):** you may have been signed out of the site in Chrome. Log back in and the next check runs in your signed-in session again.
- **Wait time:** Increase the wait action to 5-10 seconds. Some sites load slowly after login.

### The crawler logs in but monitors the wrong page

Make sure the URL in Visualping is the page you want to monitor after login, not the login page itself. Some sites redirect after login to a default dashboard. If you need a specific page, use the direct URL of that page.

### Changes are detected but they are just session-specific elements

Use Visualping's area selector to exclude dynamic elements like timestamps, session IDs, or "Last logged in" messages. Focus the monitoring area on the content that actually matters.

### The site blocks Visualping's crawler

Some sites detect and block automated access. The Chrome extension in Device mode avoids this because it uses your real browser. For server-side methods, try adding a longer wait time or contact Visualping support for help with specific sites. For public-facing pages, [website defacement monitoring](https://visualping.io/website-defacement-monitoring/) can also detect unauthorized changes.

## Security Considerations

When you provide login credentials to any monitoring tool, keep these points in mind:

- **Know where your credentials live.** Pre-action credentials are saved as part of the monitor's settings, and the hide option masks them in the Visualping interface. If you would rather keep a login entirely on your machine, use a Device mode monitor.
- **Use a dedicated monitoring account** where possible. Create a separate login with read-only access rather than using your personal admin credentials.
- **Review permissions regularly.** If you change your password or revoke access, update your Visualping job to match.

For a detailed guide on session security best practices, see the [OWASP Session Management Cheat Sheet](https://cheatsheetseries.owasp.org/cheatsheets/Session_Management_Cheat_Sheet.html).

For organizations with strict security policies, the Chrome extension in Device mode keeps all authentication local to your machine. No credentials are sent to Visualping's servers. If your organization monitors [multiple regulatory websites](https://visualping.io/blog/track-multiple-regulatory-websites/), the same security considerations apply to each tracked page.

## FAQ: Monitoring Password-Protected Websites

These are the most common questions we get from users who monitor password-protected websites with Visualping.

**Can Visualping monitor pages that require two-factor authentication?**
Yes. Create the monitor with the Chrome extension after you complete 2FA in your browser. In Device mode, checks run inside that signed-in session on your machine. In Server mode, your logged-in session is captured once at creation and works until the site expires it. Pre-actions (Method 2) cannot handle 2FA because the crawler cannot receive or enter a verification code.

**How often can I check a password-protected page?**
The same frequencies available for any Visualping job: every 5 minutes, 30 minutes, hourly, daily, or weekly.

**What happens when my session expires?**
You will get an alert showing the login page as the "change." With a Device mode monitor, log back into the site in Chrome and monitoring resumes with your live session. With a Server mode monitor, the captured session is not re-synced, so recreate the monitor to capture a fresh one. Pre-action monitors log in fresh on every check, so expired sessions are not an issue there.

**Can I monitor multiple pages behind the same login?**
Yes. Set up separate Visualping jobs for each page. If using pre-actions, each job will perform the login independently. If using the Chrome extension in Device mode, each monitor checks its page in your signed-in browser.

**Does this work with single sign-on (SSO) systems like Okta or Azure AD?**
Yes. In Device mode, the check runs in your own browser, where the SSO session from Okta or Azure AD is already active. In Server mode, that session is captured once when you create the monitor and works until it expires. Pre-actions generally cannot replicate SSO flows.

**Is it safe to store my login credentials in Visualping?**
Treat pre-action credentials like credentials you give any third-party service: use a dedicated monitoring account with the minimum access needed. The hide option masks values in the Visualping interface. If you would rather keep logins entirely on your machine, use Device mode, which keeps authentication local.

**Can I monitor password-protected RSS or Atom feeds?**
Yes. If the feed URL requires authentication, paste it into Visualping and use the **Cookie** action under **Perform actions** to add the required authentication cookies manually. This is one of the edge cases where adding cookies directly is the best approach. For public feeds that do not require a login, see [RSS feed monitoring alternatives](https://visualping.io/blog/rss-alternative).

How to Monitor Password-Protected Websites for Changes

Want to monitor web changes that impact your business?

Plenty of pages hold what you want one step out of reach. A price that appears after you pick a size. A stock list that loads after you enter a postal code. An order history that exists only after you sign in. Paste a URL like that into any monitoring tool and it watches the wrong thing: the form, not the answer.

Actions fix that. They are the steps Visualping performs on a page before it takes each snapshot, so every check starts from the state you actually care about. Type into a field, click a button, wait for a slow script, dismiss a cookie banner, then capture. The steps run again on every check, so a monitor that needs a login keeps working long after you set it up.

Actions are on every plan, including the free one.

## What Actions can do

Eleven action types cover almost everything a page can ask of you before it shows its content.

**Click** presses a button or link. **Type** enters text in a field. **Select** picks from a dropdown. **Wait** pauses for a set number of seconds while a slow page finishes loading. **Scroll** moves down the page so lazy-loaded content appears. **Go to** navigates to another URL mid-sequence. **Block** hides an element, which is the cleanest way to kill a cookie banner or a rotating promo that would otherwise trigger false alerts. **Refresh** reloads. **IFrame** and **Cookie** reach content that sits inside an embedded frame or behind a session cookie. **Script** runs your own JavaScript for the awkward cases.

Actions run in order, top to bottom, and you can drag them to reorder.

![The action type dropdown open, showing Click, Type, Select, Block, Wait and IFrame options](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_04_action_types_082491bae6.png)

## Worked example: monitoring an account page behind a login

Here is the whole thing end to end on a real store. The goal: get an alert when a new order shows up in an account that only exists behind a sign-in form.

**Step 1. Paste the URL and click Go.** Use the address of the page you want to end up on. Visualping loads it and takes a first snapshot.

![The Visualping monitor builder with a store account URL entered and the Go button highlighted](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_01_url_and_go_f94ee17214.png)

**Step 2. Say what counts as a change, then open Actions.** The "Alert me when" box takes plain language, so write the thing you actually care about: *A new order has been added to my account*. Visualping suggests conditions based on the page if you would rather pick one. This is the instruction the AI uses later to decide whether a change matters, so it is worth a sentence of thought. Then click **Actions** in the toolbar.

![The alert condition written in plain language, with the Actions button highlighted in the toolbar](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_02_alert_condition_and_actions_6783bffe5e.png)

**Step 3. Add your first action.** An empty panel offers two paths: build the steps yourself with **Add action**, or record them in your browser with **Record Action**. We will build them here, and cover recording below.

![The Actions panel before any actions are added, with the Add action and Record Action buttons](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_03_actions_empty_e4a402dfbb.png)

**Step 4. Type the username, then the password.** Add a **Type** action, point it at the email field, and enter the address. Add a second **Type** action for the password field. The hide option, the eye icon beside the value, replaces the characters with dots so the password is not readable by anyone else looking at the monitor's settings.

![A Type action entering a password, with the value masked by the hide option and an XPath selector below it](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_05_password_hidden_9047dc986c.png)

**Step 5. Click the sign-in button.** Add a **Click** action and use **Select element on page** to point at it. The picker highlights whatever you hover in the preview and drops the selector in for you. If a page resists the picker, type a CSS selector or XPath into the field instead: `input[type="password"]` and `button[type="submit"]` handle a surprising number of login forms.

![The element picker active, with the store's Sign In button outlined and a Click to Select tooltip](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_06_click_signin_5c5fde90b1.png)

**Step 6. Add a Wait, then save.** Sign-in is rarely instant. A **Wait** of five to ten seconds gives the authenticated page time to render before the snapshot fires. Without it you get a monitor that faithfully tracks a loading spinner. Click **Save Actions**.

![The finished sequence of seven actions ending in a ten second Wait, with Save Actions highlighted](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/final_07_wait_and_save_681ee6123d.png)

**Step 7. Set the frequency and start monitoring.** Pick how often to check, then **Start monitoring**.

### One thing the old version of this guide got wrong

Look closely at the action list in that last screenshot: seven steps, not three. Real login forms need focus clicks before the fields accept text, and this one needed a click to open the form at all. Building a sequence is usually a few rounds of add-a-step, run it, see where the preview stops. That is normal. The preview is the feedback loop, so use it after each action rather than building all seven and wondering which one broke.

## Two more patterns worth knowing

**Filling a search or location field.** Same shape, fewer steps. A **Type** action puts your postal code or search term in the field, a **Click** submits, and a **Wait** lets results load. This is how you monitor stock at a specific store, appointment slots in your area, or search results for a term that has no shareable URL.

**Clearing what blocks the content.** Cookie banners and newsletter pop-ups cover the thing you want and change often enough to trigger alerts on their own. A **Block** action removes the element before capture. Visualping already blocks common cookie and ad pop-ups automatically, so reach for Block when something specific survives.

## Recording steps instead of building them

If clicking through the flow yourself sounds easier than picking selectors, record it. The Chrome extension and the **Record Action** button capture what you do in a browser tab and turn it into the same list of actions. Recording produces a cloud monitor, the kind that keeps checking whether or not your browser is open.

Local monitors work differently and it is worth knowing which you want. A local monitor checks the page inside your own signed-in browser, so it needs no login steps at all: if you can see the page in Chrome, it can watch it. That is the path for anything protected by two-factor authentication or single sign-on, where a replayed username and password cannot get through. The trade-off is that local checks only run while Chrome is open.

## Credentials, handled sensibly

Treat a login you give any monitoring tool the way you would treat it anywhere else. Use a dedicated account with the least access that still shows you the page, rather than an admin login. The hide option masks the value in the Visualping interface, which keeps it from colleagues glancing at a shared workspace. If you would rather a password never leave your machine at all, use a local monitor in the Chrome extension and skip stored credentials entirely.

## What you get when the page changes

Every change comes with two things. A plain-English AI summary of what actually moved, so you do not compare screenshots yourself. And a binary important flag, set by the condition you wrote in step 2, that separates the update you asked about from the other things that happened to change on the page. You still see everything; the flag just tells you where to look first.

## FAQ

**Do Actions cost extra, or need a paid plan?**
No. Actions are available on every plan, including the free one, which covers 5 pages and 150 checks a month.

**Can Actions get through two-factor authentication?**
No. A replayed sequence cannot receive a code. Use a local monitor in the Chrome extension, which checks the page in the browser session you are already signed in to.

**What happens when the site logs me out?**
An action-based monitor signs in fresh on every check, so an expired session is not a problem. You will see the login page reported as a change if the credentials stop working, which is a useful signal in itself.

**The element picker will not select what I want. Now what?**
Type the selector by hand. Right-click the element in Chrome, choose Inspect, then copy the CSS selector or XPath. Pages that layer a transparent overlay over their content defeat the picker, and a typed selector goes straight through.

**Where can I read more about the login case specifically?**
[How to monitor password-protected websites](https://visualping.io/blog/how-to-monitor-password-protected-websites-using-visualping/) covers both methods in more depth, including single sign-on, session expiry, and the security trade-offs.

Some pages only show what you need after a click, a search, or a login. Here is how Visualping Actions run those steps before every check, on any plan.

#### How we are using machine learning to reduce false positives

Who likes fire drills? You work in a high rise downtown office and everyone is asked to leave and meet at an assigned gathering area on the street. If your office is on the 52nd floor, which means slogging down 52 floors by foot. A rainy day will make a fire drill miserable. Fire drills have a purpose but they always come at the worst possible time, when you are busy.

So the answer is, nobody, absolutely nobody, likes fire drills.

At Visualping, we feel the same about false alerts. They are like fire drills: they happen from time to time and they happen for a good reason. False alerts notify you that something changed on the pages that you are tracking, but that change is simply not relevant to your business case. If they happen too often, they can erode part of the productivity you and your team gain from automation services like Visualping.

The Web is a constantly evolving ecosystem built atop layers of highly complex interacting systems that can lead to unpredictable behaviour. Changes to websites have accelerated as more and more human and business activity happens online. As a result we are continuously improving our systems to differentiate between relevant and noisy changes. The needs of our corporate clients have also increased in scope. Visualping has users in 85% of Fortune 500 companies with some customers relying on our services for monitoring tens of thousands of pages. For those users, minimizing false alerts improves the efficiency of their downstream workflows and thus reduces operational costs.

Our original product has evolved over the years to reduce false alerts; including heuristic interventions to block page elements like ads, social media counters, and dynamic content that are changing, but are not important for our users. Until today, identifying an intervention strategy for specific pages has been a manual process. Finding a way to identify and block these elements automatically is where our developments in machine learning have started.

![](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-39-img2.png)
We now allow users to directly train Visualping’s worker bots (the crawlers visiting pages to check for changes on their behalf) in the simplest possible way. With just one click on the email alerts received, users can rank the quality of the alert: good, neutral or bad. Our algorithms will identify consistent patterns by comparing this feedback with element-level changes on the page to evolve a strategy for effective change detection, without the noise.

#### Machine learning at every level

We are particularly excited about this new direction and the substantial investment in training models to bring greater flexibility and automation to our core crawler stack. It is our crawl workers that mediate Visualping’s interaction with the Web and conduct crawls on behalf of our customers. We think about it as bringing the next generation of adaptive behaviour to the cutting edge of crawl technology with the aim of evolving our crawl workers to be more intelligent agents on the Web and make use of user feedback to adjust crawler parameters when visiting a Web property to ensure that the content is correctly parsed and meaningful to the intention driving that visit.

This is where Visualping is really set up to succeed. We can leverage our scale to combine feedback across users with similar target pages in order to improve the parameters of our crawlers and propose optimal settings for those users as they create new jobs. The feedback loop between our customers and the systems driving our crawlers will allow us to create an ever evolving, large-scale, human-annotated dataset. It’s every ML scientist’s pipe dream!

Alongside the launch of Visualping for Business in the fall, we’ll also be deploying a reinforcement learning model that helps choose optimization strategies to ensure a high rate of success when accessing, parsing, and reporting meaningful changes on candidate Web properties. This new feature set is fueled by our aforementioned feedback mechanism, which allows users to provide quick feedback any time a change is reported.

#### Webscale intelligence and web data maintenance

Another exciting trend is the increased evolution of specific and trending use cases that our customers have revealed to us within our own product. The flexibility of Visualping means that often we are surprised by a particular application we never thought of. This leads to a growing corpus of related use cases that will fuel many business intelligence applications and cost saving automations for the modern enterprise.

One of the most common commercial applications of our system is web-data maintenance: our users have collected large databases of information but that information continuously changes. Visualping change alerts allows those large databases to keep up with the pace of change we see today. Some of our customers are already using our API to automate these interactions and update this data automatically. Alongside the Visualping for business launch we will be releasing a version 2.0 API with additional functionality for users who want to further streamline their change monitoring pipeline.

Another exciting area of opportunity is exploratory and unsupervised analyses. Every data scientist loves a good fishing expedition, especially when building custom tooling to extract meaningful patterns feeds directly into potential business intelligence services. If a commercial user is interested in a specific set of changes online, chances are other businesses are as well. We are currently prototyping graph theoretical representations of our customer jobs corpus to better leverage the volume and diversity of our use cases to provide strategic insight into web properties most important and most actively related to particular domains of interests.

This is a really exciting machine learning problem, and the quality of our offerings in the space are set up to scale alongside their utilization! This is where I imagine we’ll be increasing our investment and focus as business use cases make up a larger proportion of our crawl job volume.

#### Still lots to look forward to in 2021

Behind these exciting feature developments, there is a crazy amount of work to do and the dev team is buzzing with energy. For my part, I’m excited to be building a data science dream team from scratch and busy with getting the foundation right.

Any ML pipeline can only ever be as good as the data assets at our disposal. That’s why we’re focussing on measuring the right things, and measuring them the right way. From revamping our data collection instrumentation to establishing rigorous and nimble experimentation processes, we are reinventing the relationship with our data assets to achieve the “more signal, less noise” mantra.

We are eager to deploy the next generation of ML-powered features across the board, in our internal-facing systems to keep things running smoothly and reliably, and in our intelligence offerings to help turn the goldmine of user stories our customers share with us everyday into exciting new insights into ever changing modern Web.

 ### May in a Glance

What’s new this month at Visualping?

We’re excited to announce the release of another new integration. As well as [Slack](https://visualping.io/integrations/slack/) and [Google Sheets](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/7170047-integrating-with-google-sheets), we just launched our new **Google Chat integration**. When Visualping detects a change on a web page you’re monitoring, [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) users can get notified in their organization’s preferred Google Chat spaces.

We’re also kicking off the month of spring with a fresh new look and feel for our keyword alerts. Now, when there’s an update to a keyword you’re monitoring, our change alerts show the keyword highlighted in yellow, making it easier for users to understand the keyword change.

The alert also shows a list of the impacted keywords at the top of the email, making it easier for users to quickly understand the keywords in question.

Lastly, Visualping is thrilled to announce that, in mid July, we will be attending the [American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Annual Meeting & Conference](https://www.aallnet.org/conference/)! The 3-day event, in Boston, is an opportunity for the legal information and research community to share the latest, cutting-edge technologies and innovations in legal research and information gathering.

Visualping will take part in the Exhibit Hall, as our website change detection tool is commonly used by law firms for [legal and regulatory monitoring](https://visualping.io/law-firms/).

### Introducing Visualping’s New Google Chat Integration

#### Integrate Change Alerts into Your Preferred Workflow

First up for May, we just launched our new integration with **Google Chat**.

For Business users, when Visualping detects a change on a web page you’re monitoring, they can get notified in their preferred spaces in Google Chat.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img2.png)
*<center>Integrate change alerts into your preferred workflow with Visualping's new Google Chat integration.</center>*

#### Collaborate More Easily

Integrating change alerts with Google Chat makes it easier to collaborate with your team. The alerts are sent directly to where your work already happens, in Google Chat.

Colleagues don’t have to check their email to know what’s going on, nor deal with an inbox cluttered with updates – notifications are integrated directly into you and your team’s preferred workflow.

#### Customize Your Notifications with Google Chat’s Settings

Sending alerts to your Google Chat spaces, rather than to the users in your Visualping workspace, allows you to further customize your change notifications in a couple ways.

By sending alerts to the exact Google Chat spaces of your choosing, only the most relevant stakeholders are notified of updates to a given job – rather than everybody in the workspace getting updated of all the alerts, from all the jobs, in the workspace.

You can also personalize your alerts with Google Chat’s notification settings – such as turning up the volume for certain spaces of interest, muting others, or getting alerted only in threads you’re following.

### Spring Cleaning: Improved Design for Keyword Alerts

#### Spot the Keyword Change More Quickly – Now, in Yellow

We’ve also been busy with an exciting new spring cleaning.

Now, when Visualping detects a keyword change, the screenshot shows the keyword itself highlighted in yellow. This makes it easier for users to spot the update to their keyword of interest, rather than having to skim through the highlighted text to spot the exact word or phrase of interest.

The updated keywords are also listed at the top of the alert, so the user can more quickly and easily understand the keywords in question. This is especially useful for users monitoring changes to many keywords at one time.

### Feature Spotlight of the Month

#### Monitoring and managing web pages in bulk

*Update, October 2026: bulk import and bulk editing now work on every Visualping plan, including Free, up to your plan's page limit.*

For users who need to catch changes to many pages at once, [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) makes it easy to monitor and manage page changes at scale:

* Bulk job creation: Set up any number of jobs, on demand, at once.
* Bulk editing: Edit and apply action features to any number of jobs in bulk.
* Folders & labels: Keep organized by categorizing and labeling all your jobs.
* Search, filter and sort features: Navigate through many jobs with ease.

### New Bulk Menu Dropdown

#### Flexible Viewing Options for Bulk Monitoring

As part of the bulk monitoring and management features, in the user dashboard for Business users, we’ve also introduced a new dropdown beside the 'select all' checkbox.

Users can now select active jobs, or inactive jobs, in the bulk selection menu, allowing for increased flexibility when managing jobs at scale.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img4.png)
*<center>Flexible viewing options for users monitoring and managing pages in bulk.</center>*

### Use Case of the Month

In line with our new blog post, May’s use case of the month centers around helping organizations against the threat of [domain spoofing](https://visualping.io/blog/web-domain-fraud-monitoring/) – **web domain fraud monitoring**.

Domain spoofing is the registration of web domain “lookalikes” to use in phishing emails, or to impersonate your website.

It’s important to keep an eye out for potentially fraudulent web domains, such as monitoring a list of MX records from a site like [whatsmydns.net](https://www.whatsmydns.net/dns-lookup/mx-records?query=my_web_domain.com&server=google), or new activity from web domains that may be of concern.

As manually rechecking these web pages is time-consuming, and an ineffective approach to safeguarding your brand from fraud, use [Visualping](https://visualping.io/compliance-monitoring/) to automatically monitor lists of MX records, or new activity from similar web domains that may be a concern.

When change monitoring makes it easier to know when your domain or site is trying to impersonate you.

### American Association of Law Libraries Conference

#### We’re Attending the AALL Meeting & Conference July 15th - 18th

Lastly, Visualping is thrilled to announce that, in mid July, we will be attending the [American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Annual Meeting & Conference](https://www.aallnet.org/conference/)!

The 3-day event in Boston is an opportunity for the legal information and research community to share the latest, cutting-edge technologies and innovations – an opportunity to gather and exchange best practices in legal research and information gathering.

Visualping will take part in the Exhibit Hall, as our website change detection tool is commonly used by law firms for [legal and regulatory monitoring](https://visualping.io/law-firms/).

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img6.jpg)

We’ll see you there!

And that’s a wrap for our May update from Visualping. Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

The Visualping Team

Visualping this Month: New Google Chat Integration + Improved Keyword Alerts + AALL Conference

### August in a Glance

What’s new this month at [Visualping](https://visualping.io/business/)?

First up, our Keyword alerts just got better. Users can view **keyword changes**, highlighted in yellow, in the **Text Compare page**, as well as in their email change alerts.

What’s more? When setting up jobs, if an error occurs with the associated URL you want to track, we now provide visibility into what that issue is. This makes it much easier for users to understand what’s happening, so they can go ahead and resolve the issue and still monitor the web pages they want to track.

Lastly, users can now **monitor textual changes to PDFs**! Instead of limiting your PDF monitoring to visual mode, which highlights all page changes in red, users can now more easily understand the update by seeing text added to the page in green, and text removed in red.

### Before and After: View Keyword Changes in the Text Compare Page

#### Understand Keywords updates More Easily

When monitoring pages for specific keywords of interest, users can now view those changes not just in their email change alerts, but also in the **Text Compare page**, in side-by-side format.

You can use the Keyword button, at the top of the page, to enable and disable the highlighted keyword changes.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-174-img2.png)
*<center>View keyword changes in the Text Compare page.</center>*

### Feature Spotlight of the Month

#### Monitoring web changes in text mode

In light of users now being able to monitor PDFs in text mode, August’s feature spotlight of the month is the ability for users to track textual changes.

**Text added and removed**. Monitoring changes in text mode comes with several perks. Rather than all the page changes being highlighted in red, text mode differentiates between changes added to the page – by highlighting it in green – and text removed from the page – highlighted in red. Users can more easily understand what happened to the page.

**Track keywords**. Monitoring changes in text also allows users to track changes to specific words and phrases of interest – highlighted in yellow. This means the user will only get notified of the most relevant changes, related to a specific subject of interest. You don’t have to filter through your email alerts to see what’s relevant to you and what’s not.

### Increased Visibility into URL Issues When Setting Up Jobs

#### Diagnosing URL Issues Made Easy

With this release, if a URL does not load properly during the setup process, users now have more visibility in understanding what the specific issue is with the select URL they’re trying to monitor. A message will appear in the viewport, clarifying the issue. Is the URL not found in Google? Is there just a typo in the URL? Users will now know, making it easier to successfully set up their jobs.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-174-img3.png)
*<center>Identify the URL issue so you can fix the error and set up your job successfully.</center>*

### Monitoring PDF Changes in Text Mode

With this release, when entering a URL that leads to a PDF document, users can now monitor changes to the PDF in text mode, rather than being limited to monitoring in visual mode, which focuses on the pixels and shows all changes in red highlight.

Considering PDFs often feature an abundance of text, this release is particularly handy for users looking to stay on top of PDF updates. By using the text mode, users can view text added to the page in green highlight, removed text in red highlight, and also track certain keywords or phrases of interest, in yellow highlight.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-174-img4.png)

### New Customer Story: How Direct TV King Beats Competitors’ Prices with Visualping

Next up, Visualping published a new [customer story](https://visualping.io/blog/direct-tv-parts-customer-story/) this month!

[Direct TV Parts](https://directtvparts.com/) specializes in selling replacement TV parts and repair kits online, with 24/7 customer service.

When they started six years ago, they sold second-hand TVs to lower income level customers. Since then, the retailer has shifted its business model to selling TV parts and repair kits online, which has come with its own set of challenges: price competition.

With Visualping, Direct TV Parts more effectively stays on top of eBay’s cut-throat price competition by checking competitors’ prices weekly to ensure their products are listed at the lowest price. Visualping also makes Direct TV Parts’ competitive monitoring much more efficient and cost-effective.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-174-img5.png)
*<center>Direct TV Parts uses Visualping to track whether their product ranking changes, which likely results from a competitor price change.</center>*

“Visualping updates us on any products that aren't the lowest. We do 52 checks weekly, for an entire year, to make sure we're the lowest price point on every single item we sell.”

Read more [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RMNTOE6PVdXjMruTyuS7d9VfCzVXofAzf7Cwwo0z4u0/edit).

### Last But Not Least, Use Case of the Month: Competitor Monitoring

#### Stay One Step Ahead of the Game with Competitor Alerts

One of [Visualping](https://visualping.io/ecommerce/)'s most common use cases is [competitor monitoring](https://visualping.io/blog/build-a-free-competitive-analysis-arsenal-under-5-minutes-2021/), especially for eCommerce businesses.

Manually checking on your competitors is tedious and inefficient. Whether it be their product pages, pricing, promos or new content, attempting to manually check and record observations in a spreadsheet is time-consuming and ineffective. Especially if you don’t notice the change fast enough, and so you lose the opportunity to respond in a timely way.

With Visualping, you can simplify your competitive intelligence process by tracking the exact pages that provide the insights you need. Read more about how you can use Visualping for competitive monitoring.

That’s all for this month, folks!

Sincerely,

The Visualping Team

### Feature Spotlight of the Month

#### Real-time change alerts

June’s Feature Spotlight of the Month is our **real-time change alerts**.

For time-sensitive alerts that require immediate action, Visualping offers high frequency monitoring, so you and your team can stay one step ahead of important updates.

Users on the Personal 10K plan, as well as any of the Business plans, can get alerted of page changes as frequently as every 5 minutes.

### Spring Cleaning: Our Brand New Shiny Pricing Page

Lastly, June saw the revamping of [Visualping's pricing page](https://visualping.io/business/pricing/). This release comes with several changes we’re proud to share with you.

#### Clean and Simple Self-Serve Design for a Seamless Experience

First, our new layout and design is simple and clean, making it easier for users to navigate the page and understand our varying subscription options.

With the self-serve design, users don’t have to reach out and contact our team to get started. Rather, users can kickstart their website monitoring right away, allowing for a smoother experience.

#### Flexible Options for Your Unique Monitoring Needs

Secondly, on the new pricing page, users can now customize their plan to align their website monitoring needs with the nature of their business goals.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-168-img5.png)
*<center>Visualping's new shiny pricing page.</center>*

For example, Visualping now offers additional Visualping for Business plans to support users looking to scale up their website monitoring with additional workspaces, or workspace members.

Secondly, users can take advantage of more variability in the number of members they can have per workspace. On the Business 10K plan, you can have up to 3 users, on the Business 20K up to 5 users, and Business 30K up to 7 users. For the new 40K Business plan, you can have up to 10 users, and up to 15 users on the new 50K plan.

In addition, when evaluating the business subscriptions, users can now configure their own plans based on their team’s unique monitoring needs. Users can configure the number of workspaces they want, and by choosing whether they want to purchase page add-ons, and support package add-ons.

Which brings us to the next update: we now offer **support package add-ons**!

#### Support Add-Ons for Custom and Dedicated Guidance

Admin users now have the choice to opt for supplementary support packages.

The different tiers of support help ensure your organization knows how to comfortably use Visualping, leverage all the tips and tricks to maximize the quality of your change alerts, and to take advantage of dedicated guidance to monitor pages as seamlessly as possible.

Now, Visualping notifies users when the page they’re monitoring has a bad URL. The change alert includes a short statement that informs the user of the issue – in this case, that the web page has a bad URL. By providing visibility into website issues, users can know when to adjust their web monitoring accordingly.

In the coming months, Visualping will be able to notify users of many other website-related issues besides when the URL is bad – such as when there’s a website timeout, or DNS error.

#### Track Important Changes - Regardless of the File Format

Now, web monitoring with Visualping goes beyond just tracking changes on the internet. Users can monitor updates to URLs with downloadable documents, such as DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, and PPTX files.

## Q1 in a Glance

Happy March!

We’re wrapping up the first quarter of 2024 with some exciting releases that enhance several parts of your web monitoring experience – when configuring your pages, distributing and reviewing your alerts, and when you’re providing feedback.

It’s been a great kickoff to 2024 at [Visualping](https://visualping.io/business/). Here’s why.

## Summary of Visualping’s New Features and Releases from Q1:

* **Send change alerts to private Slack channels**, so you can share updates directly where your colleagues work.

* **Script pre-action feature**, so you can access the exact web content you’re after by inserting Javascript into the page (with our [pre-action features](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/5948932-how-do-i-use-action-tools), for advanced users).

* **Copy & paste job settings**, so you can now duplicate jobs – including in bulk – in just a couple clicks.

* **Improved Learner feedback flow**, allowing for more detailed user feedback which, in turn, allows our [AI, Learner](https://visualping.io/ai/), to automatically improve the quality of alerts over time.

* **Learner in Action**: algorithmic upgrade for all visual and text jobs, allowing Visualping to further eliminate false alerts.

* **Hidden text pre-action feature**, so you can, with our pre-action features, enter obfuscated text for increased privacy in your workspace.

## Integrate Alerts in Your Private Slack Channels

You can now distribute Visualping alerts to your [private Slack channels](https://visualping.io/blog/slack-integration/), directly where your team works. Integrations with popular messaging platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Chat are available for [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) users.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-218-img1.png)
*<center>Send change alerts to your private Slack channels.</center>*

In your Visualping notification settings, simply select from the dropdown menu to integrate change alerts into your preferred Slack channels. You’ll now see both private and public channels.

Here’s a [step-by-step guide](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/6985854-app-for-slack) on how to integrate change alerts into private Slack channels.

**Note**: you can only choose from the private channels you’re a member of. The channel list will not contain any private channels you do not have access to in your Slack workspace.

## Unlocked Advanced Job Configurations with the Script Pre-Action Feature

Designed for advanced users with coding experience, this new script pre-action feature is a game changer for setting up jobs with pre-actions.

Now, when setting up a new page, you can access the exact web content you’re after by inserting Javascript into the page, to custom configure it in whichever way you want for monitoring.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-218-img2.png)
*<center>Insert Javascript into web pages for advanced job configurations.</center>*

The script feature opens up the opportunity for endless custom job configuration options.

## Duplicate Job Settings Efficiently with Copy & Paste

In your workspace, you can now easily duplicate job settings in just a couple of clicks – with our new copy and paste function.

The new functionality enables copying all the settings of your job, as well as pasting, and clearing your clipboard.

To duplicate the settings of a certain job, simply select the job to open up its settings, and click the new copy button in the top right corner. Then open the create job modal, and click the paste option to automatically prefill all the job settings.

The copy and paste function also works for creating jobs in bulk.

Copying and pasting is especially useful for jobs with many pre-action steps, such as having various manually inputted actions. Or, maybe you used the Visualping chrome extension to automatically pull your local browser data, also resulting in many action steps for your job.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-218-img3.png)
*<center>Duplicate job settings with the new copy and paste button in the top right corner.</center>*

Instead of manually setting up the action features again, or repeatedly setting up jobs via the chrome extension, simply copy and paste the job settings in a couple clicks. For a more complete guide on duplicating jobs with the copy and paste function, check out our [help article here](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/8976971-how-to-copy-and-paste-job-settings).

## Improved User Feedback Flow for Optimizing Alert Relevancy

Next up, we released an improved user feedback flow that allows you to provide more detailed feedback tailored to your web monitoring experience.

This, in turn, allows our [AI](https://visualping.io/ai/), Learner, to better improve your job settings, according to the feedback you provide. Job settings of other users’ similar jobs will be improved, too. Visualping AI learns from you.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-218-img4.png)
*<center>Give us your feedback so our AI will optimize alert relevancy over time.</center>*

Instead of selecting from a few emojis, you can provide feedback on the quality of your alerts by choosing between an upvote or downvote. If you select the downvote, you can provide additional feedback by classifying the problem from one of the preset options – such as no visible change, an element shift or repeat alert, for example.

So you only get the best, most relevant alerts in your inbox.

## Learner in Action: Enhanced Change Detection Algorithm

While Visualping is easy-to-use, [website change monitoring](https://visualping.io/blog/best-free-website-change-detection-monitoring-tools/) can get a little technical.

Unexpected issues can crop up when Visualping checks a web page for changes. You may receive an alert, even when the notification appears to be some form of a glitch on the page – a false alert.

For example, such issues include:

* Font loading
* Image loading
* Inexplicable anomalies
* Page width changes
* Animations, overlays, etc

No thanks. That’s why our AI has been incorporating user feedback to automatically improve the technology behind our algorithm.

With this algorithmic update this quarter, Visualping now better detects, characterizes and visualizes what’s changed on a page. We’re leveraging new techniques to determine what has changed on the page, so that we automatically block irrelevant alerts from being sent to you.

Thanks to you, [Visualping AI](https://visualping.io/ai/) is learning, and our alerts are improving.

## Enter Obfuscated Text with Pre-Actions

When using pre-action features, such as to [monitor password protected sites](https://visualping.io/blog/how-to-monitor-password-protected-websites-using-visualping/), you may enter sensitive text into Visualping that you don’t want to share with your workspace.

Now, the “Type” pre-action feature includes an option to hide your credentials. You can now enter obfuscated text to keep the text private from other users in your workspace.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-218-img5.png)
*<center>Enter obfuscated text to keep your credentials private.</center>*

Visualping this Quarter: Send Alerts to Private Slack Channels, and Leverage Advanced Script Pre-Actions

### March: Souping up Visualping for Business

#### Additional features for collaborative & bulk monitoring – plus, more easily understanding changes

What’s new at Visualping?

We’re nearing the end of the first quarter of 2023, and our focus has been souping up [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) – our subscription tailored to professional users, looking to monitor web page changes that impact their business.

This month, we focussed on improving the Business plan in terms of making it easier to collaborate with your colleagues, with the launch of our new [Slack app integration](https://visualping.io/blog/slack-integration/). We’ve also made it easier for users to understand web page changes, with the new Google Sheets integration.

We also focussed on improving Visualping for Business users’ ability to monitor jobs at scale, with the new bulk editing features. Users can now save time by changing many jobs’ settings at once.

As well as increasing our tool’s sophistication for monitoring target keywords, to wrap up the success of this year’s first quarter, Visualping’s marketing team has published a new [customer story](https://visualping.io/blog/instatrac-visualping-customer-story/) from one of our long-time esteemed users, InstaTrac.

### Introducing Visualping’s new Slack app

#### Now, receive web change alerts in any number of Slack channels

As Slack will soon deprecate the integration we use to notify your Slack workspace of web change alerts, we’re thrilled to announce the official launch of the new **Visualping Slack integration**.

With the new app, Visualping for Business users can continue to receive web page change alerts in their favorite messaging app.

Previously, users could only connect a job to one Slack channel. Now, when Visualping detects a change on one of the web pages you’re monitoring, you can receive the alert in any number of Slack channels you choose.

![Integrate web page change alerts into the new Slack app, so you and your team get notified of updates in your preferred workflow in Slack.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img2.png)
*<center>When Visualping detects a web page change, get alerts directly in Slack.</center>*

Out with the old, in with the new! [Find Visualping Website Change Detection in the Slack App Directory](https://slack.com/apps/A019V6SLCTY-visualping-website-change-alerts?tab=more_info).

#### Integrate change alerts directly into your preferred messaging app

[Integrating Visualping with Slack](https://visualping.io/blog/slack-integration/) makes it easier to collaborate with your team.

This is because change alerts are sent directly to where your work happens – in Slack. Colleagues no longer have to check their email to know what’s going on, nor deal with an inbox cluttered with change alerts – change alerts are integrated directly into you and your team’s preferred workflow.

And, by sending alerts to the exact channels of your choosing, only the most relevant stakeholders are notified of updates for a given job.

You can also further customize your alerts with Slack’s notification preferences. Collaborate more easily with the team by turning up the volume for certain channels of interest, muting others, or getting alerted every time a target keyword is mentioned in your Slack workspace.

For more information on how to integrate Slack into your team's workflow, check out our [Slack support article](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/6985854-slack-app).

Woohoo!

### Introducing Visualping’s new Google Sheets integration

#### Integrate change alerts directly into your spreadsheet

We’re also thrilled to announce the official launch of the new **Visualping Google Sheets integration**.

Now, when there’s a web page change, Visualping will automatically record it in users’ Google sheets. The integration is available for [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) users.

Similar to Slack, the app allows users to integrate important changes directly into their preferred workflows. Users can now streamline page updates right where they need them, in their spreadsheets.

![When Visualping detects a web page change, use the Google Sheets integration to automatically record that update into your spreadsheet. Integrate change alerts into your team's preferred workflow.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img3.png)
*<center>When Visualping detects a page change, automatically record the update in Google Sheets.</center>*

#### More Easily Understand Web Page Changes

By automatically reporting the change in users’ spreadsheets, the integration also helps users more quickly understand page changes.

Integrate change alerts into your workflow, and understand updates faster with our new Google Sheets integration.

### Feature Spotlight: Keyword Alerts

Several of this months’ improvements had to do with honing our tool’s ability to notify users when a target keyword is added or removed from a web page.

That’s why March’s Feature Spotlight is **keyword alerts**!

When monitoring for textual changes, Visualping users can filter their alerts to only get notified when certain keywords, phrases or numbers are added or removed from the page. Users can essentially filter their notifications for the exact information they care about.

![With Visualping's keyword alerts feature, get notified when certain keywords, phrases or numbers get added or removed from a web page.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img4.png)

When setting up a job, users can find this feature under the keyword alerts panel. For step-by-step instructions on how to leverage our keywords alerts feature, check out our [support article](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/5970609-can-i-be-alerted-if-a-word-or-phrase-is-removed-or-added-to-a-website).

### Bulk edits

*Update, October 2026: bulk editing now works on every Visualping plan, including Free.*

Besides amazing integrations for better collaboration and productivity, how else did we soup up [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) this month? With new advanced settings for editing jobs in bulk.

As part of Visualping for Business, users can scale up their monitoring by staying on top of any number of web pages for the changes that impact their organization.

Now, users can also save time by editing any number of jobs, simultaneously. Users no longer have to manually apply edits to each job individually, but configure settings for many jobs – at once.

With the advanced bulk editing features, users can now:

* Set the day and time of jobs,
* Set the frequency and change threshold of jobs, and
* Apply Perform Action features to jobs – for example, block a popup that always appears on the same spot for multiple jobs – typically, with the same URL.

![With Visualping's new advanced bulk editing features, save time by configuring the job settings for many web pages, at once.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img5.png)
*<center>Save time with Visualping's new advanced bulk editing features.</center>*

Monitoring and managing jobs at scale just got a lot easier.

#### Purchase pages add-on

Want to vamp-up your monitoring and stay on top of even more page changes? Now you can, with our new purchase pages add-on feature.

Admin users with an active Business subscription now have the option to purchase additional pages for their workspace. Simply select one of the add-on package options, and add it to your cart, to further scale up your monitoring.

**Additional pages add-on options:**

+ 500 pages for $300/year
+ 1,000 pages for $600/year
+ 5,000 pages for $3,000/year
+ 10,000 pages for $6,000/year

### Optimizing the change detection algorithm

#### Improved keyword notifications

At Visualping, we’re proud of the quality of change alerts we send to our users. Our tool enables users to customize their monitoring with advanced features, such as with keyword alerts, so you only get notified on the exact things you care about. We’re the industry’s leading [website change detection tool](https://visualping.io/blog/best-free-website-change-detection-monitoring-tools/).

This month, we made some changes to further optimize our change detection algorithm to reduce the chance of notifying users of false changes, with a particular focus on keyword alerts – in particular, phrases that include multiple words, and numbers.

#### Keyword reports

Rather than skimming through new change alerts to see which specific keyword was detected, users can now simply refer to the **keywords report** – an exported report that shows the exact keywords that were triggered in each new change alert.

Especially for users monitoring many keywords, and/or web pages in bulk, the keyword reports helps users save time by being able to easily identify which keywords, in particular, were detected for a given alert.

#### Improved ability for users to provide feedback

At Visualping, we understand user feedback is not only important, but invaluable in order to continuously improve a product. That’s why, this month, we made it easier for users to provide their feedback.

Before, users could only provide feedback from a new email alert – three emojis sat at the bottom of the email, giving the user the option to communicate their satisfaction with the quality of the alert.

Now, users can not only provide feedback when they’re viewing an email alert, but also in their user dashboard.

The feedback emojis now sit in the top right corner of the visual compare modal of any job – whether the job is new or old – so users can more easily provide their feedback, and right away.

### Customer story: InstaTrac

Last but certinaly not least, we’ve published a new customer story, with the legislative tracking service and long-time esteemed Visualping user, [InstaTrac](https://welcome.instatrac.com/).

InstaTrac needed a website change monitoring tool to more efficiently stay on top of legal and regulatory updates in Massachusetts. Manually rechecking web sources was time-consuming, and risked delayed responses to urgent updates.

As Chelsea Peterson reports, InstaTrac’s Chief Operations Officer, Visualping’s ease-of-use empowers their less tech-savvy employees to set up their own monitoring for the information they know they need – without requiring developers to build custom scrapers. This has the added benefit of freeing up the developers for more value-added tasks.

>I was testing different products and I liked Visualping the best […] It’s super user-friendly, of course. As non-techy people in a tech company, that’s really critically helpful to us.

![InstaTrac uses Visualping to get automatic real-time legal and regulatory updates from state government web pages.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-159-img6.png)
*<center>InstaTrac uses Visualping to get real-time alerts of important legislative updates.</center>*

With automated monitoring, InstaTrac is also able to supplement its service with more content, increasing its value as a powerful and reliable legal information tracking service.

Check out the customer story [here](https://visualping.io/blog/instatrac-visualping-customer-story/).

### Use Case of the Month

In line with InstaTrac’s information service, March’s use case of the month is **monitoring government web pages for legal and regulatory updates**.

Whether you need to [track regulatory changes for compliance](https://visualping.io/blog/regulatory-compliance-how-to-monitor-changes/), or your firm needs to know the [latest legislative updates](https://visualping.io/blog/monitor-state-federal-legislation-changes/) to provide clients legal support, use Visualping to monitor government web pages for you.

Regardless of how specific or niche, or federal or state, Visualping can monitor any page on the internet for the exact legal, judicial, and regulatory information you need.

That’s all for this month, folks!

Sincerely,
The Visualping Team

Everything new at Visualping this month. We're launching a new Slack App, to make collaborating with teams even easier. Integrate change alerts into your workflow. Visualping this Month: New Slack and Google Sheets Apps + Bulk Edits

### July in a Glance

#### What’s new this month at Visualping?

We’re celebrating the summer months by launching our new **Viewer Roles**. Our new **Viewer Role Permission** enterprise-grade feature enables admin users to grant access to specific content and data to workspace members, without granting administrative or editing privileges.

We’re also thrilled to have attended the year’s biggest event for the legal tech space, **AALL 2023**, in Boston.

Lastly, we’ve got a new [customer story with CurrencyCloud](https://visualping.io/blog/currencycloud-customer-story/).

### First Up: Viewer Roles

#### Controlled Access

The **Viewer Role Permission** is an enterprise-grade feature designed to provide admin users the ability to control which workspace members can edit and modify monitored jobs. Now, some workspace members can receive web change alerts, without the ability to edit the job.

How does it work? When inviting new members to your workspace, you can assign them the role of being able to either edit jobs, or view jobs. After having sent the invites, you can also edit the roles, as well as edit current workspace members’ roles.

#### Read-Only Data

By allowing users to view job change history and receive alerts without risking accidental modifications, the Viewer Role Permission feature helps users safeguard their data integrity and promote compliance and confidentiality.

#### Compliance Adherence

Viewer Role Permissions also enables enterprises in highly regulated industries, such as Financial Services or Legal/Government firms, to ensure compliance and adhere to internal governance policies.

![Visualping admin users can control which workspace members can edit and modify monitored jobs.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-171-img2.png)
*<center>Admin users can now control which workspace members can edit and modify monitored jobs.</center>*

Regulations in the financial industry, for example, prohibit users from accessing non-publicly available pages via the use of credentials. A viewer role gives companies the ability to choose who is habilitated to use the action features to monitor a page behind a login wall.

### Visualping Attended AALL 2023 and It Was a Hit!

#### We Were There: the Legal Tech Space’s Biggest Event of the Year

The 3-day AALL annual event is a chance for the legal information and research community to share the latest, cutting-edge technologies and innovations. It’s an opportunity for research librarians and knowledge management professionals to network and exchange the best practices in legal research and information gathering..

This year was a hit! Visualping took part in the Exhibit Hall, as our website change detection tool is commonly used by law firms for [legal and regulatory monitoring](https://visualping.io/fr/law-firms/).

We were thrilled to see so many of our law librarian & knowledge management users in person, and to share our website tracker with the legal tech community.

*<center>Our sales and marketing team at our booth at AALL 2023.</center>*

We can’t wait to see you next year!

### Feature Spotlight of the Month

#### Workspaces

Visualping for Business users have access to **workspaces** – a central dashboard for everyone to stay on the same page with the latest updates, as well as collaborate on changes.

With workspaces, you can share responsibilities for keeping your page monitoring current, including modifying jobs, managing pages in bulk and generating advanced reports.

![Visualping for Business workspaces.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-171-img4.png)
*<center>Visualping for Business workspaces.</center>*

With folders and labels, users can keep the workspace organized by categorizing jobs into custom folders, and labeling them according to your unique workflow.

Interested in experiencing workspaces for you and your team? [Book a demo](https://visualping.io/contact/?field22=Demo) and we’ll show you how it works.

### Introducing Our Latest Customer Story with CurrencyCloud

#### CurrencyCloud Ensures Marketing Compliance with Visualping

This month we were excited to publish a new [customer story](https://visualping.io/blog/currencycloud-customer-story/) from [CurrencyCloud](https://www.currencycloud.com/) – a cloud-based B2B payment platform. They needed a compliance monitoring tool to efficiently monitor their clients’ websites and make sure their product was being marketed according to strict regulatory requirements.

Currencycloud’s regulatory team uses Visualping to automatically track hundreds of client websites for prohibited language in communicating their product to end users. Visualping enables the payment platform to stay on top of potentially noncompliant marketing language, saving time for the regulatory team and reducing the risk of noncompliance.

>We take the terminology and phrases we consider to be against what our regulators allow us to say, and we use Visualping to scan our client’s websites for those terms.

![Monitoring clients homepages to reduce compliance risk with Visualping](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-171-img5.png)
*<center>Example of monitoring clients' homepages for compliance. Not an actual CurrencyCloud client.</center>*

Visualping ultimately makes it easier for Currencycloud to help work towards a safer marketing environment.

>Visualping, very clearly and early on, was a clear positive choice for us.

Read more about why [here](https://visualping.io/blog/currencycloud-customer-story/).

### Use Case of the Month

#### Compliance Monitoring

In line with our CurrencyCloud case study, this month’s featured use case is compliance monitoring. Visualping is commonly used as a compliance monitoring tool for Businesses to keep an eye on clients, marketplaces and partners to ensure compliance with your policies and reduce the risk of noncompliance.

Website change monitoring makes it easy to track all your blind spots – regardless of where they are on the web.

That’s all for this month, folks!

Sincerely,

The Visualping Team

Everything new at Visualping this month. Our new Viewer Role Permission feature allows users to grant editing access to only certain content and data amongst workspace members. AALL 2023 was a success, and ew launched a new customer story with CurrencyCloud.

Visualping this Month: New Viewer Roles + AALL 2023 Was a Hit + Customer Story with CurrencyCloud

**Summary:** Visualping AI replaces manual alert triage with two features: AI Summaries that explain changes in plain language, and Important Alerts that only notify you when a change matches your criteria. A compliance analyst monitoring 40 pages can cut weekly review time from 3 hours to under 2 minutes.

Monitoring websites for changes used to eat hours. You'd open alert after alert, squint at highlighted diffs, cross-reference screenshots, and still wonder if you'd missed something buried in a footer update. That workflow doesn't scale, and it certainly doesn't respect your time.

Visualping AI replaces that manual triage with two features that change the daily math: **AI Summaries** that tell you what changed in plain language, and **Important Alerts** that only ping you when a change matches your criteria.

Here's what that looks like in practice, and where the hours actually come back.

## The old workflow: death by a thousand alerts

Picture a compliance analyst monitoring 40 regulatory pages. Before AI, every detected change triggered an identical notification. Cookie banner refresh? Alert. Footer date update? Alert. Actual policy revision buried in paragraph 12? Also an alert, looking exactly like the other two.

The analyst's morning routine: open each alert, load the page, compare the highlighted diff, decide whether it matters, move on. At 3-5 minutes per alert and 10-15 alerts overnight, that's 30-75 minutes before any real work begins. Multiply that across a week and you've lost half a business day just reading diffs.

![Visualping AI overview](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-194-img2.png)

## What happens when you stop reading diffs

With AI Summaries, every alert arrives with a plain-language explanation of what changed. No more loading pages and comparing screenshots. You read the summary, understand the change, and move on. That 3-5 minute review drops to 10-15 seconds.

AI Summaries are available on every plan, including free accounts. They show up automatically in your alert emails and dashboard. Nothing to configure.

![AI summary example](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-194-img3.png)

Summaries alone still mean you're reviewing every change, though. The bigger shift happens when you add a prompt.

## Important Alerts keep your inbox clean (and your mornings short)

When you write a prompt during job setup (something like "flag changes to approval status or compliance deadlines"), Visualping AI evaluates every detected change against that criteria. Matches get tagged **Important** and fire your notifications. Everything else is captured and logged, but it won't ping you.

![Prompt and analysis example](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-194-img4.png)

### Before vs. after: a real scenario

Take that same compliance analyst monitoring 40 pages. In a typical week:

| | Before AI | With AI Summaries | With Important Alerts |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Alerts received** | 47 | 47 | 6 flagged Important |
| **Time per alert** | 3-5 min | 10-15 sec | 10-15 sec |
| **Weekly review time** | ~3 hours | ~12 min | ~90 seconds |
| **Missed changes** | Risk of fatigue blindness | Lower | None (all captured, just not pushed) |

Three hours of manual triage, cut to under 2 minutes. The other 41 changes are still in your dashboard if you ever want to check them. Nothing is lost.

## What happens when you're monitoring 50+ pages

Once monitoring grows beyond a handful of pages (competitor pricing across 50 product pages, regulatory updates across 30 agencies, contract terms across a vendor portfolio), even Important Alerts can stack up.

Reports pull changes across multiple monitoring jobs into a single AI-summarized briefing. Instead of reviewing alerts one by one, you get a consolidated view: what changed this week, what mattered, what pattern is forming.

For a team lead briefing stakeholders every Monday, a weekly report replaces the Friday afternoon scramble of compiling change logs from individual emails. That's another 30-60 minutes shaved off per cycle.

Reports are available on Business plans and above.

## When a self-service prompt isn't enough

Some monitoring jobs need more muscle. All plans include visual analysis and Actions for pages behind logins, but the Solutions tier adds upgraded AI models, the Visual Analyzer for richer image-based analysis, prompt engineering support, monitoring behind multi-step logins and IP restrictions, and custom data outputs.

For the full breakdown of every Visualping AI capability, see our [complete Visualping AI overview](/blog/visualping-ai). If you want hands-on guidance on writing effective prompts, our [prompt writing guide](/blog/analyzer-explained) covers the details.

## Getting started

AI Summaries are already active on your account. To start using Important Alerts, open any monitoring job, add a prompt describing what matters, and let Visualping handle the filtering.

Setup takes under a minute. The time savings start with your next alert.

How Visualping AI Helps You Monitor Web Changes Faster - Visualping

### November in a Glance

Happy November!

As part of the [Visualping AI](https://visualping.io/ai) launch last month, Learner™ has been leveraging user feedback to optimize job settings. As a result, Visualping now automatically blocks all cookie pop-ups and pop-up ads! For all Visualping users, your website monitoring will no longer be interrupted with irrelevant content blocking the changes important to your business.

We’ve also released a new action, Go To, that makes job actions much easier, especially in cases with login, redirects or other navigation needs.

In addition, [Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) users can also now filter through error results in the dashboard, allowing for easier navigation when assessing job errors.

Last but not least, Visualping also launched an exciting webinar on Visualping AI, which previewed our new upcoming [AI functionalities](https://visualping.io/blog/visualping-ai/). It was a huge success! We were blown away from the turnout and engagement from our users.

### Summary of Visualping’s New November Features and Releases

Visualping now blocks all cookie and ad pop-ups, making it easy to access the content you need to monitor.

* **New action, Go To**, which makes setting up jobs with the Perform Action features easier – especially in cases with login, redirects or other navigation needs.

* **Provide feedback to your AI summaries**, which Visualping will use to optimize the quality of your AI-generated summaries for Business users.

* **Advanced filtering features for job errors**, so you can navigate through job errors and assess job health more easily.

* **Webinar on Visualping AI**, which was an introduction to our upcoming AI functionalities and a huge success!

### Visualping Now Automatically Blocks Cookies and Pop-Up Ads

#### No More Irrelevant Pop-Ups Getting in the Way

Visualping’s new AI feature, Learner, has been leveraging user feedback to automatically improve users’ job settings, to reduce irrelevant alerts. Now, as a result, all new and existing Visualping jobs will block cookie pop-ups and ads.

When setting up a new job, you don’t have to use the Perform Action features to remove cookie and ad pop-ups that block the content you want to track. Visualping will automatically block pop-ups for you, so you can access the content you’re after, and save an extra step in the job setup process.

You also don’t have to worry about receiving irrelevant change alerts from cookie and ad pop-ups. Visualping automatically blocks them for you.

As a bonus benefit, when setting up your Visualping job, many websites will also load way faster.

![Learner, as part of Visualping AI](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-208-img1.png)
*<center>Visualping now blocks all cookie and ad-pops, so you can monitor exactly what you're after.</center>*

### New Perform Action feature: Go To

#### Access the Content You Want in Less Clicks

For when you do want Visualping to navigate a page in a certain way to access the content you’re after, we have a new Perform actions feature: Go To. Go To makes it easier to access the content you want on the website, without having to add various action features to do so, speeding up the job setup process.

When setting up a new page to monitor, you can use the Perform actions features to tell Visualping to navigate the page in a certain way, so the tool can access the web content you want checked for changes.

![Visualping's new Go To action, for advanced users](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-208-img3.png)
*<center>Without inputting various action features, navigate straight to the website URL you want checked for changes with the new Go To action.</center>*

With Go To, this actions feature allows you to navigate to a new page, based on the URL you enter. It makes job actions much easier, especially in cases with login, redirects or other navigation needs, because Visualping will automatically navigate to the website you enter, reducing the number of actions to get there.

### Automatically Improve Your AI Summaries with Feedback

In beta, as a Visualping for Business user, you can now provide feedback on the quality of your AI summaries. Visualping uses this feedback to optimize the quality of the summaries, so users can understand page changes faster with intuitive summaries tailored to what you want to monitor.

![User feedback for AI-generated summaries](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-208-img4.png)
*<center>Submit your feedback to automatically improve your AI summaries over time.</center>*

[Summarizer™](https://visualping.io/ai/), in beta for Business users, is one of the AI functionalities we’ve released as part of Visualping AI.

### Error Filtering in Your Dashboard

#### Navigate through Error Results More Easily

In addition, we’ve improved our advanced filtering features in the dashboard for Business users, making it easier for users to navigate through their jobs.

For example, in order to locate a specific job error, you’ve needed to flick through each of your Visualping jobs to see it. Now, you can more quickly navigate through errors, and access your job health, in your Visualping dashboard.

![Visualping for Business workspaces.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-208-img5.png)
*<center>Access job health more easily with our new advanced filtering options in the dashboard.</center>*

### Feature Spotlight of the Month

#### Perform actions

Sometimes, accessing a page entails filling in a login form. An option from a dropdown menu may need to be selected, or a button or two may need to be clicked, in order to access the page.

You can monitor these pages with Visualping by using the pre-action tools.
When setting up the monitor, use the pre-action tools to tell Visualping how to navigate the page – to fill in that form, select from that dropdown menu and click those buttons, etc. Pre-action tools allow you to instruct Visualping how to access a page, in order to check it for changes.

### Introducing *Visualping AI* Webinar

#### Thank You For the Unprecedented Turnout and Engagement!

This November, we did an exciting webinar that previewed what’s to come for [Visualping AI](https://visualping.io/ai) – a suite of new AI-powered features that will make monitoring web pages for changes easier and more efficient.

And it was a huge success!

![Visualping for Business workspaces.](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-208-img6.png)

We were blown away from the turnout, and your questions were incredible. Our new AI features have sparked an unprecedented level of excitement and engagement from our users.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and for your brilliant questions! Stay tuned for what’s next at Visualping.

That’s all folks!

Everything new at Visualping this month. No more cookie and ad pop-ups disrupting the web page content you want to track. And, during set up, you can use the new Go To action to navigate straight to the website URL you want checked for updates, rather than adding various click actions to get there. Navigate through job errors more easily with the new advanced filtering options, and provide feedback to your AI summaries for automatically improved summary alerts over time.

### Introducing Visualping’s New Slack Integration

As Slack will soon [deprecate the integration](https://help.visualping.io/en/articles/6985854-slack-app-beta) we use to notify your Slack workspace of web page change alerts, we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of our newly upgraded [Slack app integration](https://visualping.io/integrations/slack/).

When Visualping detects a change on one of the web pages you’re monitoring, receive the alert in any number of Slack channels you choose.

Our new Slack app makes it easier to streamline your collaboration with your team. And, by receiving alerts in your company’s preferred messaging app, you can better integrate important web changes in your team’s workflow.

You can [find Visualping Website Change Detection in the Slack App Directory](https://slack.com/apps/A019V6SLCTY-visualping-website-change-alerts?tab=more_info).

The [new Slack app](https://visualping.io/integrations/slack/) makes it easier to streamline your collaboration with your team. It also allows you to better integrate change alerts into your team’s workflow. Staying on top of updates no longer requires the hassle of rechecking your inbox throughout the workday.

Receive web changes important to your business where your business communicates the most – in Slack.

Out with the old, in with the new!

### 1. Detect page updates at speed and scale

#### Prompt change alerts

When Visualping detects a change on one of the web pages you’re monitoring, get notified in Slack on the same day, or within even 5 minutes, so you and your team can respond right away.

The new Slack app makes it easier to collaborate with your team. This is because change alerts are sent directly to where your team works – in Slack. Keep your team on the same page by automatically sending alerts to anyone, where your team communicates the most.

By sending alerts to your designated Slack channels, the new Slack app also allows you to notify only exactly who needs to know about a given web page’s changes.

##### Bulk management

This feature allows **editing**, **running**, and **deactivating** jobs in bulk.

##### Job templates

Another new feature making bulk monitoring more manageable is **job templates**. This feature is launching soon. Create custom job setting templates for quick and easy re-use. Monitor as many web pages as you wish, with the same job settings, easily and efficiently.

##### Folders

[Visualping for Business](https://visualping.io/business/) users can now also use **folders**, to categorize any number of jobs and make monitoring at scale more manageable.

![image](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/blog/post-post-78-Folders.webp)

*Add and manage multiple users to your account*

##### Feedback-based machine learning

Leverage our **feedback-based machine learning** by providing feedback on your alerts. This helps Visualping offer you intelligent job setting suggestions, making it easier for you to focus on what’s important.

##### Mute notifications & set alert thresholds

You can also **mute notifications** and **set thresholds for alerts**, so you’ll only get notified if the page change reaches a certain change percentage. This is to reduce false alerts.

##### Perform actions

With our **Perform actions** feature, further customize your monitoring by presetting how you want Visualping to navigate the page. This helps you properly access the content you want to monitor. For example, sometimes, accessing a page requires blocking a pop-up, which may require clicking a button or two. This feature is easy to use – you can learn how [here](https://visualping.io/blog/how-to-use-pre-action-tools-to-monitor-pages/).

Visualping for Business: Work in Teams and at Scale

---

**Disclosure & Editorial Standards:** This article is written by the Visualping marketing team and covers Visualping's specific capabilities for legal and regulatory monitoring. Visualping may benefit if you choose to purchase our product. We encourage you to try our free trial first, and we recommend evaluating whether our approach fits your firm's workflow before committing.

---

In legal services, being first to know matters. A regulatory amendment published on a Tuesday afternoon can shift client strategy by Wednesday morning... if someone catches it in time. That's a big "if."

For legal librarians and knowledge management (KM) professionals, the challenge isn't awareness of this problem. The challenge lies in the infrastructure gap between knowing you need to monitor and having a reliable system that actually does it.

Government websites update without announcements. Obscure agency pages fall outside RSS syndication. And the traditional legal databases most firms rely on are, by design, better at historical research than real-time change detection.

That gap is where **legal monitoring** tools like [Visualping](https://visualping.io/law-firms) come in.

## Why Traditional Legal Research Tools Fall Short for Regulatory Monitoring

LexisNexis and Thomson Reuters are workhorses. For case law, statutory interpretation, and structured legal research, they're hard to beat. But they're built around content that's been indexed, processed, and published through editorial pipelines, which takes time.

When a federal agency posts a proposed rule, an emergency amendment, or a new compliance deadline on its website, that update may not surface in a traditional database for hours, days, or sometimes longer. For KM teams whose job is to brief attorneys and clients on developments the moment they happen, that lag is a real problem.

The [2026 Report on the State of the US Legal Market](https://www.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/posts/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2026/01/2026-State-of-the-US-Legal-Market.pdf) from Thomson Reuters and Georgetown Law found that law firms increased spending on knowledge management tools by 10.5% in 2025, the fastest growth rate the legal industry has likely ever seen in that category. That investment reflects a real shift: firms are recognizing that staying current requires infrastructure beyond standard research subscriptions.

A complementary finding from the same report: demand for legal services driven by regulatory upheaval, trade policy shifts, and geopolitical instability surged to the highest point since the 2008 financial crisis. More regulatory activity means more for KM teams to track, and the consequences of missing something material are higher.

**Key Takeaway:** Legal databases are built for depth, not speed. For monitoring government websites and agency pages in real time, firms need a different kind of tool, one designed specifically for change detection.

## What Makes Visualping Useful for Law Firm Monitoring

Unlike closed research databases, [Visualping is an AI legal research tool](https://visualping.io/blog/best-ai-legal-research-tools) that can track any publicly accessible web page: federal agency rulemakings, state legislative portals, court administrative notices, international regulatory bodies, and beyond. There's no prescribed list of sources you're limited to.

A few things that matter for **monitoring for law firms** specifically:

- **Monitoring frequency**: Visualping can check a page for changes as quickly as every two minutes, faster than any editorial pipeline.
- **Source flexibility**: Any public URL is fair game. Niche state agency pages, obscure regulatory portals, consultation documents — if it's on the internet, Visualping can watch it.
- **Scalable management**: Whether a KM team is tracking five sources or five hundred, everything is managed from a single dashboard.

These fundamentals are solid. But it's the AI layer that makes the tool genuinely useful for **legal status monitoring** at scale.

## The AI Features That Change How Legal Teams Work

### Smarter Setup with AI Page Suggestions

![Screenshot 2026-03-02 at 12.45.36 PM.png](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screenshot_2026_03_02_at_12_45_36_PM_e425ac290e.png)

Setting up a new monitor used to require manually selecting the specific area of a page you wanted to track. That's fine for one or two sources, but it adds friction when you're onboarding a new project with dozens of agency pages.

Now, when you set up an alert on a government web page, Visualping's AI automatically identifies the sections most likely to be relevant and suggests them as monitoring targets.

On the Federal Register, for example, it might recommend the "Recently Published" section or the "Proposed Rules" column. You're not starting from a blank slate: the AI gives you a sensible starting point for what to monitor, which you can accept or edit.

This matters most when a legal team is expanding coverage quickly, taking on a new regulatory jurisdiction, tracking a new practice area, or onboarding a new client matter with multiple agency sources to watch.

**Benefit:** Streamlined Setup, Smarter Defaults

### Cutting Alert Fatigue with AI Criteria

![Screenshot 2026-03-02 at 12.40.20 PM.png](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/Screenshot_2026_03_02_at_12_40_20_PM_2460b0a236.png)

Anyone who has run a **regulatory monitoring** program knows the alert fatigue problem. A page gets updated with a navigation link change, a footer revision, a cosmetic formatting tweak, and you get a notification that looks, at first glance, like it might matter. Multiply that across dozens of sources and you spend a meaningful amount of time triaging noise.

Visualping's "Alert me when" criteria address this directly. Here's how the feature works:

- During setup, you define what qualifies as a meaningful change: specific terms, regulatory language, phrases like "emergency rule" or "proposed amendment."
- When Visualping detects a change that matches your criteria, the alert is flagged as Important in both your dashboard and your email notifications.
- You can still see the changes that didn't meet your AI criteria in the Visualping dashboard if you're interested, so you're not missing anything, but the "Alert me when" criteria lets you only get alerted of the changes that matter to your team

The result is a faster path from alert to action. A legal team fielding alerts across a large source list can scan their alerts first thing in the morning and know within minutes whether anything material happened overnight.

**Benefit:** Less Alert Fatigue, Faster Decision-Making

## Writing Effective Prompts for Legal and Regulatory Monitoring

The quality of your Important Flag setup depends on the quality of your prompt. A vague instruction produces vague results. For KM and legal librarian contexts, the most effective prompts are role-specific and tied to concrete outcomes.

Here's a starting template:

*As an AI assistant for a legal librarian or knowledge management professional, help me track significant legal and regulatory changes and provide prioritized alerts. When analyzing legal information:*

*1. Identify meaningful changes (new rulemakings, proposed amendments, compliance deadlines, enforcement actions, legislative updates)*

*2. Evaluate importance based on jurisdictional relevance, affected practice areas, and potential client impact*

*Present important findings in a concise, actionable format that helps me quickly understand the latest legal and regulatory developments.*

Adjust the specifics for your practice area — healthcare compliance teams will have different trigger terms than trade and sanctions groups.

### Custom Prompt Engineering for Enterprise-Scale Monitoring

For large firms with sophisticated **law firm monitoring** needs, Visualping's [Solutions plan](https://visualping.io/pricing) includes dedicated AI prompt engineering. This is a managed service: Visualping's AI specialists work with your firm to understand what you're tracking, then build and refine custom prompts that guide the AI to surface the most relevant updates across your monitored sources.

**A concrete example:** A global firm tracking trade sanctions and cross-border compliance across multiple jurisdictions might configure Visualping to flag only alerts that:

- Reference specific affected countries or trading blocs
- Mention pending legislation, executive orders, or enforcement actions
- Include compliance deadlines relevant to active client matters

Because Visualping's team handles the setup and maintenance on the Solutions plan, your KM professionals focus on interpreting and communicating findings — not configuring the tool.

**Benefit:** Scalable, Context-Aware Monitoring Without Manual Tuning

---

## What This Looks Like in Practice

Legal teams using Visualping for **legal monitoring** aren't waiting for a database to catch up. They're watching the original source — the actual government page where the update was published, and getting notified when it changes.

That shift in workflow is meaningful. A legal professional who gets an important alert at 2pm on a Tuesday can brief the relevant attorney the same afternoon. Without that system, the same update might surface in a database search a day or two later, or get missed entirely until a client asks about it.

For law and consultancy firms monitoring the regulatory climate across multiple client matters and jurisdictions simultaneously, that response time difference has real consequences.

## Getting Started

For legal librarians and KM leaders looking to improve their **regulatory monitoring** workflow:

- **Set up key monitors on the agency sites your firm tracks most**: Federal and state regulatory portals, court administrative pages, relevant international bodies. Or opt for a support package and let the Visualping team handle setup.

- **Configure Important Flags for your highest-priority sources**: Define your trigger terms once, and let the AI sort the signal from the noise going forward.

- **Upgrade to Solutions for enterprise-scale needs**: Custom prompt engineering, managed setup, and ongoing maintenance for firms tracking large source lists across multiple jurisdictions.

## Frequently Asked Questions About Legal and Regulatory Monitoring

### How is Visualping different from legal databases like LexisNexis or Westlaw for regulatory monitoring?

LexisNexis and Westlaw are built for searching indexed, structured legal content: case law, statutes, secondary sources. They're not designed to detect changes on live web pages. Visualping monitors the actual government or agency website directly, so you get notified when an update is published, not when it eventually gets picked up by an editorial pipeline. For time-sensitive regulatory changes, that distinction matters. The two approaches complement each other rather than compete.

### What types of pages can Visualping monitor for law firms?

Any publicly accessible web page. Common use cases in legal and regulatory monitoring include federal agency rulemakings (FDA, SEC, CFPB, EPA, etc.), state legislative portals, court administrative announcements, international regulatory bodies, consultation documents, and enforcement action pages. If the page is public and lives on the internet, Visualping can track it.

### How do Important Flags help with high-volume legal status monitoring?

When you're monitoring dozens or hundreds of sources, the volume of alerts can make it hard to prioritize quickly. Important Flags let you specify, in plain language, what kinds of changes matter to you. Visualping then marks alerts that match your criteria as Important in your dashboard and email notifications. Everything else still comes through, but you can triage the high-priority alerts first. For KM teams managing large source libraries, this significantly reduces the time spent sorting alerts before action can be taken.

Visualping Solutions vs Business: AI Features and Pricing

**Summary:** Visualping monitors any government or regulatory web source for changes, with AI Summaries and Important Alerts filtering routine formatting updates from compliance-relevant ones. The Solutions plan adds prompt engineering and upgraded AI models for enterprise-scale regulatory tracking.

For compliance and legal-tech teams, catching a regulatory change the day it happens is what matters. Legislative changes define the risk environment, shape strategic decisions, and influence how organizations meet their obligations under the law.

Yet, most [page monitoring agents](https://visualping.io/blog/best-free-website-change-detection-monitoring-tools) send noisy false alerts, break on dynamic pages, and are difficult to use. RSS feeds are becoming increasingly less available.

Traditional legal research platforms like Thomson Reuters and LexisNexis often don't cover hyper-specific, granular updates, and they tend to surface critical changes after they've already taken root, putting you behind on the latest data.

That's where [Visualping](https://visualping.io/) comes in. Whether you're powering your legal tech platform or ensuring your own company's compliance, Visualping goes beyond website change detection. Thanks to its [AI capabilities](https://visualping.io/ai), Visualping is a [regulatory intelligence tool](https://visualping.io/regulatory-intelligence) that sends granular, timely alerts from any web source online.

## Why Visualping is built for regulatory intelligence and compliance

![AI legal regulatory monitoring.png](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/AI_legal_regulatory_monitoring_32301a4fce.png)

Visualping lets regulatory intelligence and compliance professionals monitor any web page, from a regulatory form buried deep in an agency's site to niche legislative developments that don't make headlines, to court decisions posted in obscure dockets.

For time-sensitive updates, you can adjust monitoring frequency to as often as every two minutes.

Some examples of the kinds of material you can track include:

### Legislative material

* Statutes
* Pending bills
* Carryover bills
* Failed bills
* Testimony and debate
* Hearing schedules
* Bulletins and meetings
* Forms
* Documents
* Committee reports

### Regulatory material

* Regulations
* Emergency regulations
* Temporary regulations
* Pending regulations
* Final regulations
* Agency news
* Public notices
* Policy documents
* Consultation documents
* Discussion
* Guidance and interpretation
* Agency forms
* Announcements
* Press releases
* Agency materials
* Enforcements
* Speeches

### Judicial material

* Dockets
* Cases
* Court rulings
* Trial court documents
* Trial court opinions
* Trial court orders
* Jury verdicts & settlements

Because you can monitor any web source and set the alert timing yourself, Visualping gives you precise control over the noise. You pick the pages, you set the frequency, you define what counts as important.

While traditional research databases notify you of official regulatory updates from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) or Federal Register, Visualping can also catch the earliest indication of these developments on niche government subsites, giving you a timing advantage there too.

## How Visualping AI cuts through regulatory noise

Visualping's AI features are built into every plan: AI Summaries explain what changed in plain language, and Important Alerts let you write a prompt defining which changes deserve your attention. (For a full overview, see our [Visualping AI guide](/blog/visualping-ai). For prompt-writing tips, see our [prompt writing guide](/blog/analyzer-explained).)

These capabilities matter for regulatory monitoring because government and regulatory sites are often dense, inconsistently structured, and updated frequently with a mix of substantive changes and routine formatting edits. Here's how they apply:

![ai smart suggestions for legal and regulatory tracking setup.png](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/ai_smart_suggestions_for_legal_and_regulatory_tracking_setup_bd269c066a.png)

**Smarter setup on dense government pages.** When you enter a regulatory URL, Visualping AI analyzes the page and suggests what to monitor. This is especially useful for dense agency sites where manually identifying the right section to track would take significant time.

![important flags for ai legal and regulatory monitoring.png](https://cms-service-strapi-uploads.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/important_flags_for_ai_legal_and_regulatory_monitoring_81960a62a2.png)

**Important Alerts for compliance-relevant changes only.** Write a prompt like "Important only if approval status changes, new enforcement actions are posted, or compliance deadlines are added or modified." Routine formatting updates, staff directory changes, and FAQ rewording on the same page won't fire a false alert. You'll know, at a glance, when something actionable has occurred.

For teams tracking dozens of regulatory pages, this eliminates alert fatigue while ensuring nothing substantive slips through.

## Solutions plan: fully managed regulatory monitoring

For enterprise-scale monitoring across hundreds of high-stakes government sources, the [Solutions plan](https://visualping.io/pricing) adds Prompt Engineering, upgraded AI models, and custom data outputs.
