Notify Me When Back in Stock: Set Up Product Alerts
Updated October 28, 2026

An illustration of product monitoring and notifications.
By the Visualping Team.
A back-in-stock alert tells you when a retailer reports that a sold-out item is available again. Visualping can monitor a product page it can load, check it at your chosen interval, and send an alert after detecting a relevant change. Its AI provides a binary IMPORTANT flag and a plain-English change summary. An alert does not reserve stock or guarantee a purchase.
Start with the exact item, size, and fulfillment option you want. Then check whether the retailer offers its own notification and whether a page monitor can capture the same availability information.
Target offers back-in-stock notifications on eligible items: email through Target.com or push notifications through its app. They require an account, exclude store inventory, and do not reserve an item. Some high-demand or limited items may be excluded.
Other retailers publish different guidance. Nike says it has no fixed restock schedule. Check the retailer's current help page and the product page before choosing how to follow an item.
Visualping is useful when the availability text you need appears in its page preview. Check that preview before saving: a blocked page, a missing size selector, or a different store selection can prevent the monitor from seeing the information you want.
TL;DR: Use a retailer alert when it fits your item, and consider Visualping for scheduled checks of a page it can capture. Select the availability area, describe the size or stock change you care about, and enable notifications for changes the AI classifies as important. Free includes 5 pages and 150 monthly checks. Faster intervals and extra channels depend on the plan, and frequent checks can exhaust the monthly allowance. Start free at visualping.io/sign-up.
What to check before using a retailer "Notify Me" button
Read the terms beside the notification button. Use these questions to decide whether it covers the availability you need.
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Item eligibility | Is a notification button available for this product? |
| Size or variant | Does the signup identify the size, color, or model you want? |
| Fulfillment | Does the alert concern shipping, delivery, or your selected store? |
| Notification channel | Will it arrive by email or in the retailer app? |
| Availability limits | Does the retailer explain exclusions or say that an alert does not reserve stock? |
A page monitor can complement the retailer option. It checks the captured page on a schedule, so a brief availability change between checks can be missed. Review the retailer page when an alert arrives.
How to set up back-in-stock alerts for a product
Use these steps for a product page Visualping can load. Retailer login requirements, location settings, and page controls may need additional setup; inspect the preview before relying on the monitor.
Step 1: Copy the product URL
Open the exact product page and select the size or color you want, if applicable. Copy its URL, then confirm the same selection appears in Visualping. A URL alone may not preserve the state of a selector, your login, or your chosen store.
Earlier product-page example. The screenshot illustrates an availability label; it does not establish current stock or prices.
Step 2: Paste the URL into Visualping
Go to visualping.io. From your dashboard, choose Start monitoring, use the Single tab, paste the URL, and click Go. Visualping loads a preview and monitors the whole page by default. Check that the product and availability details are visible.
Earlier setup example: this LEGO page shows a Backorder button. The displayed price, ship date, and interface are not a current stock check.
Step 3: Focus on the availability area
In AI Mode, drag a box around the availability text, purchase button, or size selector you want to watch. Leave enough room for the status text to change. If a popup or a click hides the relevant content, configure Actions first and check the preview again.
Area selection focuses the monitor on that part of the page. You can also monitor the full page and describe the relevant change in Alert me when. Check the AI prompt and notification settings together to reduce unrelated alerts.
Step 4: Set how often to check
Choose an interval and calculate its check usage. A faster available interval does not mean the plan includes enough checks to run it continuously for a full month.
| Interval for one page | Checks over 30 days | Entry plan supporting that interval | Monthly checks on that plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily | 30 | Free | 150 |
| Every 60 minutes | 720 | Free | 150 |
| Every 15 minutes | 2,880 | Personal 1K | 1,000 |
| Every 5 minutes | 8,640 | Personal 5K | 5,000 |
| Every 2 minutes | 21,600 | Personal 10K | 10,000 |
These are planning calculations for one page running continuously: days × 24 × 60 ÷ interval in minutes. Add the usage of every monitor. Five pages checked daily use 150 checks in 30 days; in 31 days they use 155, which exceeds Free's 150-check allowance. Failed checks also consume checks. Monitoring pauses when the allowance is exhausted until it resets or you upgrade. See current plans and check limits.
Choose a slower interval, a shorter monitoring schedule, or a larger check budget if your planned usage exceeds the allowance. The interval is a schedule, not a guaranteed detection or delivery time.
Step 5: Define an AI condition
In the "Alert me when" field, write a short description of what matters. Examples:
- "Alert me when this product becomes available to purchase."
- "Alert me when Size 10 becomes available."
- "Alert me when the price drops or the item is back in stock"
Visualping uses the prompt to classify detected changes with a binary IMPORTANT flag and provide an AI summary. To receive only important-change notifications, confirm Alert me only when the AI condition is met is enabled and turn on your chosen delivery channel. AI classifications can be wrong; review the captured change and the retailer page.
Step 6: Choose how to get notified
Email alerts are included on every plan. SMS is included on Personal 5K, Personal 10K, and Business plans. Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications require Business. Choose a channel you will notice and enable it in the monitor settings.
Notification delivery takes additional time after a check detects a change. Keep the retailer page as your final check of availability before buying.
Restock guides for popular retailers
For retailer-specific setup considerations, see our guides to H&M, Shein, Steam Deck, Uniqlo, Ulta, StockX, Patagonia, Urban Outfitters, Coach Outlet, J.Crew, Nordstrom, Dyson, and Apple. Check the live retailer page and preview when applying a guide.
Choose a product page or a listing page
For one item, start with its product page and describe the exact size, model, or availability status you want. Verify that those details appear in the preview.
For a broader search, consider a category or search-results page and specify the product names or terms that matter. Review its preview carefully: a captured list can omit items outside the visible or loaded results.
Use separate monitors if you need both views, and include both in your page and check budget. Changes to a listing can include reordered results or new products, so inspect the alert before treating it as a restock.

Advanced: monitor multiple products at once
Tracking restocks across several stores or many products at once needs a little structure.
-
Start with a small watchlist in your Visualping dashboard. Free supports 5 active pages and 150 monthly checks; count every product and listing monitor against those limits.
-
Give each monitor a useful interval and prompt. Add up their combined check usage before increasing the frequency.
-
If you use Business, you can route alerts to Slack channels such as
#sneaker-restocksand#home-deals. For personal monitoring, email is included on every plan. -
Review the watchlist regularly. Pause or delete monitors for items you have bought or no longer want to follow.
Frequently asked questions
What's the best way to get notified when a product restocks?
First check the retailer's own alert options. A page monitor is another option when it can capture the availability information you need. Visualping checks on a schedule and uses your AI prompt to flag important changes and summarize them. Enable important-only notifications if you want that filter, then verify the product page when an alert arrives. Start a free monitor at visualping.io/sign-up.
Is there a free tool to track product restocks?
Yes. Visualping's Free plan includes 5 pages, 150 monthly checks, email, AI summaries, and IMPORTANT flags. It permits checks as often as every 60 minutes, but 150 checks cannot sustain even one hourly monitor for 30 days. Five pages checked daily use 150 checks in 30 days and 155 in 31 days. Personal plans offer shorter intervals and larger budgets; SMS begins with Personal 5K, while Slack and Teams require Business. Choose by your page count and total check usage.
Can shoppers monitor multiple product pages for restocks at once?
Yes, up to your plan's active-page limit and shared check allowance. Each monitor can have its own interval and AI prompt. Business includes labels and Slack routing for organizing larger watchlists. Set up a free account and add the pages you need within its limits.
How fast does Visualping detect a restock?
Visualping detects a change only when a check successfully captures it. A shorter interval gives more opportunities to observe a restock, but stock can appear and disappear between checks. Capture failures, notification processing, and an exhausted check allowance can delay or prevent an alert. Use the interval and budget table above to plan coverage; no interval guarantees that stock will still be available when you open the alert.
What are the limits of retailer back-in-stock emails?
Eligibility and coverage depend on the retailer. For example, Target's notification guidance excludes store inventory, warns that high-demand items may be excluded, and says opting in does not reserve stock. Check the terms for your item. This guide does not establish a typical email delay or show that Visualping is faster than a retailer's alert.
Does Visualping work for sneakers, vinyl, beauty exclusives, or sale-only pages?
It can monitor pages in those categories when the relevant content is accessible in the preview. Specify the item, size, or availability text in your prompt and verify the capture. If a page needs clicks, a dropdown selection, or a login, configure Actions and test the preview again. Setup can vary by site, and access may fail. Start tracking free at visualping.io/sign-up.
